One of our favorite places in Dallas is The Arboretum! Way back when, actually almost 8 years ago now, I had my bridal portraits taken at The Arboretum. Chris and I took Lily before she was walking. We had a family weekend with my mom and dad, brother and sister-in-law once Lily was walking and talking a bit around Easter time. Then we took Lily and Cade before Cade began walking in the fall. Spring two years ago we went with our dear friends Heather and Maxx. And Last spring we made a trip to see the tulips with our dear friends Karen, Allie, and Matthew. As you can see we have averaged a trip about every other year! But this year we managed to get two visits in and a season pass to go along with the last trip!
Well, the season pass was neither intentional nor expected! Here's what really happened: I e-mailed my family last week, with great delight, a deal I bought on Group-on for 6 adult passes to The Arboretum. Perfect....six adult passes...Chris and I, mom and dad, Brian and Jessica. Total: $36 instead of $72 without the groupon. I could hardly believe my eyes so I quickly scooped up my coupon, e-mailed the fam, and we set the date for this past Sunday, only a couple of days after the purchase!
Chris walked up to the ticket booth with our coupon as we trailed behind at the entrance visiting with mom and dad. I was so proud of myself for saving money on our tickets and getting us all together for the day!Chris returned to us with another idea...."Well, how about season passes...looks like we can all get in for $102 for 6 adults!" Me: "What are you talking about, you just gave them our group-on, we don't need season tickets!" Chris: " Honey, you missed the fine print...the group-on is only good on the weekdays." Me: "No, no, no... I didn't read anything about weekdays!" Chris: "Exactly (ha)" Me: "Let me see that paper!" Darn it ( a nicer version of what came out of my mouth) There it was.. on the group-on....Valid only on weekdays! Darn it!!!
So we all walked over to the table and bought ourselves a group season ticket package. If you know me at all....this is about par for the course.... not only with money, but with most things in general! "Honey, you want adventure...you got it," I continue to remind him! To which he continues to remind me of a smaller checkbook to go along with it too! :) So let's do a little math here:
Group-on $36 plus 2 kids $16 plus group season pass $102 = $154....yep, that's about par for the course!
Once that was over and we entered into "the magical gardens," as Lily calls it, we had a fantastic time as usual! The gardens were gorgeous and pumpkins were everywhere! Lily was super excited because Cinderella's carriage was set out in the sea of pumpkins and princess castles were the theme this year! Jax and Cade climbed all over the pumpkins and then decided that throwing the small ones was more fun than just looking at them! The pictures speak for themselves! BEAUTIFUL DAY and gorgeous weather to go along with a perfect family day together!
