Spring Break

Spring Break 2013 started off with a visit from our sweet friends!! Karen, Allie and Matthew came to visit from Longview and we had a ball! The kids played at the house, we visited an old friend Karen grew up with, we hit the local playground and the girls got in a trip to American Girl and new doll, Saige. We ate lunch at Grand Luxe  at the Galleria. The kids were so well behaved at lunch our sweet waitress brought each of them a very large cookie/ice cream sandwhich! We were amazed!! The boys had a visit to the Lego Store, Karen brought back two hermet crabs and we exhausted ourselves all in one day (haha).  It was quick and fun and much needed!!!

Cade wasn't quite feeling in the mood to tackle ice skating just yet.

American Girl Saige, Girl of the year 2013 Saige loves horses and art...two of Lily's favorite things too!

A trip to Fudruckers....our tradition with the Reed family :)

The girls put on a fashion show and the boys couldn't resist jumping in and torturing the fashionistas!

BROKEN BOW, OKLAHOMA

Our friends, The Adcocks, invited us to spend Thursday through Sunday of spring break with them in Broken Bow at their parents' cabin.  We were all so excited! A new adventure with the kids and in the company of great friends! We spent the entire time outdoors...no IPad, no cell phones, no tv. It was wonderful!!!  And the kiddos got along so well !  So much fun and so many wonderful memories!!!

Day 1

One of the many hikes we took!    Cade, Lily, Kennedy, Luke

Chris showed the kids how to skip rocks across the pond.

Cade caught a grasshopper !

The boys spent hours on the porch outside playing!

We rented a paddle boat for the girls who were feeling very adventurous and independent!
They had a great time! They also realized it was a lot more work than it looked and they didn't get very far  for how hard they were paddling (ha).

The boys opted for land !

Then we rented a canoe for each family. Chris almost fell in the water getting in our canoe... which made the canoe rock a bit... which made Lily and Cade scream... and want out! OF COURSE that would happen to us! Celena and Jeff were rolling!!!   There were tears........Great Job, Babe (ha) Way to start off on the right....ugh...wrong foot :)   We got the kids calmed down and got out on the river.  I have to admit I was a little unsteady after that as well but we grabbed our oars and started paddling  away. Lily being Lily leaned over the side to look in the water.  The canoe tipped to one side and Cade held on for dear life. Then he yelled, "LILY!!!! DONT DO DAT!!!! LILY!!!!   It happened several times!!  So you can picture this nice calm river.  Paddle boats.  Canoes. The rustle of the wind in the trees. And OUR kids yelling at each other....THE WHOLE TIME! Whose idea was the canoe ride? I'll blame that one on Celena (haha). We really did have a great time and as with most of what we embark on.... it was definately memorable!!!

We took a nice hike down the river. Great photo opportunity!!!

Jeff grilled hamburgers one night and we just chilled while the kids ran around !

At night we had a bonfire and of course S'mores!!!

The girls had their dolls ...

and the boys had their dream lite !

Day 2

Yummy breakfasts!

Playing in the yard and picnic lunches! Just loved to look out from the porch and see the kids enjoying the outdoors!!

Lots of trips to the pond to fish!!!

Miss Lil always striking a pose!

Miss Kennedy had a turtle following her all over! It was so funny!!! He was determined that he was going to get her bait!!

Greatest picture of the weekend!!

Day 3

We had so much fun at the Depot! We took a little train ride, played at the playground, and rode horses!
Perfect entertainment!

Sittin Pretty!

Sweet Friend!!!!

Love this pic of Cade!!!

Friends since they were 1 yr. old!!

Miss Lil fell out of her swing when she was trying to swing on her tummy...Silly Girl!

We were trying to kill about an hour and a half before our trail ride so as the kids played on the playground Chris went to get some snacks at the train station. It was getting pretty warm out. I said "This would be a great day for snow cones!" Low and behold.... around the corner came this little red snowcone cart playing music. We all about died....PERFECT TIMING!!!  (hahaha)

Jeff and sweet Baby Jake taking a walk together... Love it!!

Miss Lil sittin pretty on Bo,  holding her golden ticket for the ride !

Celena is such a crack-up! Love that girl!! She had a beautiful horse, but as the trail ride got going her horse wrapped himself around a handful of trees and in the process knocked her knee into each of the trees! She had bruises all over that night :(

Cade rode in a special seat behind Chris. He loved being able to finally ride a horse!!!

We ended our last night with dinner out at a fun little pizza place! It was delicious! We sat outside and listened to a band play, Celena counted her bruises from the horse ride, and we ate the best pizza EVER !!!  What a wonderful spring break! So many memories all week long and so many blessings of friendship and fun times together! Thank you Karen for coming to visit and Celena for having us in Broken Bow!!!
