Soccer Tots

We signed Cade up for Soccer Tots a few weeks ago. Can I just say... This little boy is going to be a fierce competator! It is already showing  at 3 1/2 years of age.  I don't know if it stems from having an older sibling or just in his DNA, but  he is extremely coordinated, wants to be first, and wants to win bad!  Words of wisdom would be helpful as once again this was not my personality growing up! (ha)
The class is super small so it is almost a private lesson.  We were lucky that they didn't cancel the session! No waiting in lines for turns to practice kicking, running, etc... The kiddos are WORN OUT when they leave, which in turn makes for a great nap! He is truly happy out there running around, kicking cones, and learning new skills!

Last week the three kiddos ran up and back on the field several times. Cade was ahead of the other two with one eye always keeping watch behind him just to make sure he was still in the lead. ( I kind of felt like I was watching a horse race) (ha) As soon as one of the two other kiddos would  come up closer, Cade rounded up just a bit more energy and got a little bit further ahead so as to stay in the lead!  It was quite amusing! Every week I have heard "Mama, dis de best day EVER!" Of course he says that if we go to Mc Donalds too, but when he and Lily are not fighting, he is loving life and all the little things that are so big in his world right now!!!

Since Lily was born we have always said, "Watch out world...here comes Lily!"  Now it is safe to say that our sweet little caretaker boy, who would stand back and take it all in for 30 minutes before he warmed up to anything or anyone has emerged....
"WATCH OUT WORLD...HERE COMES CADE!"  Full speed ahead....

The Arboretum

One of our favorite places in Dallas is The Arboretum! Way back when, actually almost 8 years ago now, I had my bridal portraits taken at The Arboretum. Chris and I took Lily before she was walking. We had a family weekend with my mom and dad, brother and sister-in-law once Lily was walking and talking a bit around Easter time. Then we took Lily and Cade before Cade began walking in the fall. Spring two years ago we went with our dear friends Heather and Maxx. And Last spring we made a trip to see the tulips with our dear friends Karen, Allie, and Matthew.  As you can see we have averaged a trip about every other year! But this year we managed to get two visits in and a season pass to go along with the last trip!

Well, the season pass was neither intentional nor expected! Here's what really happened: I e-mailed my family last week, with great delight, a deal I bought on Group-on for 6 adult passes to The Arboretum. Perfect....six adult passes...Chris and I, mom and dad, Brian and Jessica. Total: $36 instead of $72 without the groupon. I could hardly believe my eyes so I quickly scooped up my coupon, e-mailed the fam, and we set the date for this past Sunday, only a couple of days after the purchase!

Chris walked up to the ticket booth with our coupon as we trailed behind at the entrance visiting with mom and dad. I was so proud of myself for saving money on our tickets and getting us all together for the day!Chris returned to us with another idea...."Well, how about season passes...looks like we can all get in for $102 for 6 adults!" Me: "What are you talking about, you just gave them our group-on, we don't need season tickets!" Chris: " Honey, you missed the fine print...the group-on is only good on the weekdays."  Me: "No, no, no... I didn't read anything about weekdays!" Chris: "Exactly (ha)"  Me: "Let me see that paper!" Darn it ( a nicer version of what came out of my mouth) There it was.. on the group-on....Valid only on weekdays! Darn it!!!

So we all walked over to the table and bought ourselves a group season ticket package. If you know me at all....this is about par for the course.... not only with money, but with most things in general! "Honey, you want adventure...you got it," I continue to remind him!  To which he continues to remind me of a smaller checkbook to go along with it too!   :)   So let's do a little math here:
Group-on $36 plus 2 kids $16 plus group season pass $102 = $154....yep, that's about par for the course!

Once that was over and we entered into "the magical gardens," as Lily calls it, we had a fantastic time as usual! The gardens were gorgeous and pumpkins were everywhere! Lily was super excited because Cinderella's carriage was set out in the sea of pumpkins and princess castles were the theme this year! Jax and Cade climbed all over the pumpkins and then decided that throwing the small ones was more fun than just looking at them! The pictures speak for themselves! BEAUTIFUL DAY and gorgeous weather to go along with a perfect family day together!

Grandma Carter's Birthday !

Last weekend we celebrated Mary's 81st birthday in Granbury! Lots of the Carter crew joined in for an afternoon of family and fun together! Chris' sister Kathy and her husband Rex drove in from Missouri! We had a family birthday lunch at Babe's Chicken house which proved to be quite entertaining! Not only were we celebrating Mary's birthday, but Kathy's as well. They both were very good sports and went along with Babe's chicken dance birthday song. It was a sight and priceless, with pictures to boot! We followed up with more visiting at Grandma and Grandpa's house, a little skit from Lily and Caitlin, opening gifts,  and lots of catching up! Happy Birthday Ladies...So glad we all were there to help you both celebrate!!!
