Chris and I took mom and Dad to Reno with us the day after Lily got out of school! We have always wanted to show them how beautiful it really is and to take them to Lake Tahoe and some other well known places! Chris has quite a bit of family in Reno so we got to catch up and and visit on our vacation too! We saw his Brother Bernie and wife Susie and other brother Tim and wife Beth.
It was wonderful! Perfect weather and beautiful scenery!
Cousin Chad - one of the chef's at Creme!
Beth
Cousin - Chef Chad- invited the kids to check out the kitchen and asked them what they would like for him to cook up! He quickly realized that he had some very picky eaters on his hand, but they managed to narrow some things down and he got cookin!
Lily and Cade gave Chad's chocolate chip crepe pancakes a thumbs up :) YUM-O!!! and left with very full tummy's!!!
Kristel and Rick (Chris' brother and sister-in-law) let us stay in their AMAZING vacation home! There are no words to describe how beautiful yet comfortable and inviting their home is! It was a vacation in itself just staying there and taking morning and evening hikes through the hills.
When we arrived at Kristel and Rick's we found this gorgeous bouquet waiting for us on the front door steps...welcoming us to Reno! Soooo sweet!
Chris lived in Reno for 13 years before he moved to Texas. He happily drove us around Reno, showed mom and dad the sights, UNR's campus (where he went to school) and took us to "The Wall," otherwise known as Little Waldorf Saloon. It was a place Chris frequented in his college days :).
The kids couldn't wait to take Gran and Pap Jack on a hike ! Off they went into the wild blue yonder....
Me and my sweet daddy!
Another amazing view as we ventured over the hill back to the house! STUNNING!
Each evening Cade would make us take turns playing soccer with him. Yes, that is a small vineyard to the left of mom and dad! Did I say AMAZING already - LOL
It felt like we were in Tuscany!
Tim, Rick and Bernie opened up Ace Hardware about 5 years ago in Mid-Town Reno. It is in a 1940's building with the original hardwood floors. Such a cool store and people drive from all over to come in and shop with Tim and his family run business!
Lily begged her Uncle Tim to let her work one morning. He said ok and had her take a work pledge, gave her a t-shirt and put her to work cleaning the bathrooms first! AWESOME! Starting in the trenches! LOVE IT!!! After she cleaned up she became the greeter and helped her cousin Michael at the register.
Lake Tahoe
Every trip to Lake Tahoe we stop at the Hyatt Regency and eat at the Lone Eagle Grill. It is so relaxing and we love the views! Greta, our niece, was married on the lawn to the right in this picture 4 years ago and Lily was one of her flower girls! We have walked this path to the lake many times with the kids!
The water was 54 degrees. :)
The kids burried some star wars men in the sand and forgot where they put them. Chris saved the day as he combed through the sand with a tearful Cade close by.
The kids just couldn't stand it any longer. After much pleading we gave in and let them put their bathing suits on. They stuck their feet in and quickly decided to play at the edge of the water in the sand. (haha)
We took a walk down the road took some cute pics!
Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe
He's at it again...another evening of soccer :)
and lots of silliness :)
We couldn't get enough of Creme! Such yummy breakfasts and time with family!
Cousin Lauren popped over while we were eating breakfast!
We took a very scenic drive up to Virginia City. On the way we stopped to take a hike and see some pretty views!
A little train ride to learn about the history of Virginia City's mining ventures.
A kids paradise...... Barrels of Candy
Mom was feeding her sweet tooth :)
We walked out of one of the stores to find someone walking with their wolves! YES....WOLVES! They were HUGE!!!! I had no idea the size they really are! We were all intrigued!
The kids couldn't take their eyes off the player piano...they thought it was haunted (haha).
Another fun day at Lake Taho....Sand Harbor. This time Lauren joined us and dared to get in the 54 degree water with the kids :) Brave souls!!
We ate a wonderful lunch together at Garwoods on the lake.
The following day we drove to Truckee and ate breakfast at the famous Squeese In. So much character in one little spot!
Would you look at that pancake! What kiddo wouldn't smile and gobble that bear pancake up! So cute and yummy!
The kids signed their names on the wall at the Squeeze In before we headed out to shop the town!
OH....LOVE THIS HAT! I saw it and I should have scooped it up! I have a thing for hats and I would easily be the person who would have a closet full of hat boxes... full of hats and no where to wear them. (ha) We left this one behind, but not before I snapped a pic first :)
Old Town Truckee
Chris made us all wear sunglasses :)
Stopped at the Truckee Ace Hardware...it was like a mini Cabella's!
We stopped by to see Stephanie at her store. Fun little surprise visit!
Lily, Cade and Stephanie's daughter Audrey made quick friends!
Tired boys!
Chris' best friends from college came over to visit. Kathy, Pat and Parker. Such a fun visit and we so enjoyed finally getting to see Miss Parker...such a cutie!
Our last patio dinner...at Stone House in Reno.
What great pics! Love the one of the kids on the rock!
