Disney World Day 3

ANIMAL KINGDOM

The morning of Animal Kingdom we slept in a little and knew today would be the day we would "hit a wall." We didn't plan much and just walked around and took it easy. We wanted to spend about half a day at AK and then go back to The Wilderness and let the kids swim. That's about all we had mapped out :)

We saw the Tree of Life
     Super Cool!!!
   We "walked through Africa" !
We took the Kilamonjaro Safari Tour.  WOW...was this cool!!! We rode in extended "safari tour jeeps." We saw hippos, giraffes, wildabeast, lions, elephants and lots of other animals. The Giraffes walked right next to our jeep! It was very unexpected  and we loved Animal Kingdom more than we realized we would!

After the Safari tour, the kids stopped at a craft station. They colored pictures about Africa and learned some pretty neat facts about the country!
They were able to pick out beads and have a key chain or a bracelet hand made for each of them!
Lily had her face painted.   She chose a unicorn.
Cade was not into face painting so he passed on that part!
We listened to African music and watched Miss Lily and other people from the crown learn dances!
And we had lunch (without reservations I might add) at The Tusker House. We got a later start that morning so we didn't have much breakfast and the tummies were growling. We walked up and asked if they had any spots available for 10:45 and they said yes...it was before the big crowds hit and we could walk right in. AWESOME!!! An unplanned day was working out fantastic!!! The food was great and we all loved seeing the characters dressed in safari attire!

Of course the waffles were shaped like Mickey!
We would expect nothing less ! :)

The Orangutang from Jungle Book !!

Blu from Jungle Book!!! Lily used to LOVE Blu when she was 3! She would talk about that big
funny blue bear all the time!  When Cade was little it was all Mickey Mouse, or "dit-daw" as he called him! For Lily.....it was Blu !!!  That was definately a mommy moment!!!
She wasn't quite as excited at 7 and I don't think really remembered loving him as much as she did when she was younger... But I sure did!!!

Uh-Oh....Don't look Minnie......Lily just stole a kiss from Mickey!!!!

We did manage to catch It's Tough to be a Bug! It was very creepy crawly!

And this is what the kids remembered most....the Boneyard playground.  We stayed about 30 minutes and they ran around, climbed and played. It was unstructured and just what they needed!

We continued through Dinoland and somehow managed to bypass the "carnival area," thank goodness!

And we made it to our second show....The Lion King!!!!   We walked right up and there was only a 5 minute wait until the show started! We were loving the no lines! December was a GREAT time of year to go!!!
The show was unbelievable!!!

Tired kiddos waiting for the bus to take us back to our lodge.  When we got back to the lodge I took a 2 hour nap and Chris took the kids down to the pool to swim! They had a blast and momma got some rest!
Each day we returned to our room there would be a cute little animal made out of a washcloth or hand towel. Lily and Cade couldn't wait to see what would be waiting for them when they returned.
Our room had bunk beds.  Another bonus that excited Cade and Lily!!!
We loved our room!!!
Tired kiddos........Sweet dreams!!!
